Due to the prevalence of card payments, restaurant guests often don’t have cash to leave a tip while staff are left without additional income. Our client, a major bank, turned to us with the idea of a product that would help people transfer tips to staff without installing special apps. At the same time, it can also be used as a tool for feedback collection, which will help improve restaurant service by meeting audience demands.
Our client wanted to build an easy-to-use mobile app SimpleTips for servers, allowing them to receive cashless tips directly from guests. The user would be able to add a personal debit card, view total income and statistics. Guests would, in turn, be able to leave tips, rate their experience and leave a review with suggestions by simply scanning the QR code.
Based on functional and non-functional requirements, risks and competitive analysis, our team built a unique solution for launching a successful cashless tipping app that meets high market standards and provides users with a seamless experience.
Our team was tasked with implementing SimpleTips service as a convenient tool for restaurant guests and servers for smooth cashless tipping. We designed a clear, user-friendly interface and intuitive navigation so that users of all ages can easily get familiar with and use it.
Along with the bill, the server brings a business card with a personal QR code. The guest just needs to scan it and open the site, where they fill in card details, enter tip amount and leave feedback. The tip amount can be selected from the suggested ones ($5, $10, $15, $20, $30) or entered by the user. The experience can be rated from 1 to 5 stars and accompanied by a quick positive feedback (excellent service, delicious food, etc.), detailed review and suggestions for improvement.
After a quick login, the server is offered to create a user profile and add available QR codes. The menu of the app for tips includes: earnings, requisites and profile.
Earnings. Here servers can view total income, reviews and statistics.
Requisites display the user’s QR codes and cards. Users can add several QR codes for every work place and services provided. Here the user can also add a card to which the money will be transferred.
Profile stores all personal information (name, surname, email, mobile phone, photo). Users can change the password or delete the account.
The app is available for both mobile and web.
The cashless tipping app enables users to track the total receipts of tips for the day, week and specific month and year just by opening the SimpleTips app. There are also categories of income source like restaurants or types of services (delivery, catering, etc). To make it easy to use, we have chosen to display information in charts and bars.
In order to make adding cards and transferring money possible, fast and secure, the service has been integrated with our client's banking system. All data is encrypted to protect the privacy of guests and staff.
